Lviv City Hall to repair emergency floor that started to sink

According to the City Hall, the floor of the first floor of the City Hall lobby began to sink. Cracks began to appear on the wall in the shelter.

The floor has a relevant expert opinion and a decision of the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies. Emergency repair work on the floor is scheduled to begin next week.

“Last year, we noticed that a crack had formed in the shelter under the Town Hall lobby. So we invited experts who conducted the relevant surveys and found that the floor of the hall was not sufficiently reinforced. There is a corresponding expert opinion on this. To prevent the floor from collapsing, the floor structures need to be further strengthened.

In particular, during the repair, it is planned to dismantle the old flooring in the lobby of the 1st floor of the Town Hall, an area of approximately 120 m2, strengthen the slab and lay a new floor covering, taking into account all accessibility standards,” the Lviv City Hall explained.

The repair of the City Hall lobby floor is scheduled to begin in mid-July. The main entrance to the city hall will be closed for the duration of the works. Visitors will be able to enter the City Hall through the side entrance, where the ASC is located.

All works will take about two months. UAH 995.7 thousand were allocated from the reserve fund of the Lviv community budget. At the same time, the entrance gate will also be restored – the Lviv Higher Professional Art School is already working on its restoration.

The shelter in the Town Hall building will continue to function as before, but a certain part of it, where the floor will be reinforced, will be temporarily inaccessible. It will still be possible to enter the shelter both internally from the City Council and externally, in particular through the City Museum.
