In Lviv, 53 veterans and their families were selected to participate in a competition for business vouchers

Fifty-seven participants applied for a business voucher for veterans, their wives and husbands. Among them are veterans, wives and mothers of defenders.

They want to develop their own businesses in various areas: from coffee shops to king prawn farms. This is the third time that the Lviv City Council has held a competition to receive up to UAH 300,000 in support for business development for veterans and their families.

According to the Department of Economics of the Lviv City Council, applications for participation in the competition were accepted for a month. During this time, the city council received 57 applications for a business voucher for veterans. After selection, 53 projects were allowed to compete, while the rest did not meet the program’s criteria.

Out of the 53 business projects, 30 were submitted by veterans, another 20 came from the wives of defenders, and 3 from the mothers of servicemen.

The proposed projects cover almost all sectors of the economy:

15 projects are in the areas of clothing and footwear production, furniture manufacturing, metalworking, drone/UAV production, and food processing;
19 projects are in the service sector: cosmetology, consumer services, photography and animation, and service stations;
8 projects in the restaurant industry: coffee shops, pizzerias, bakeries, coffee and water vending machines;
5 projects – transportation and delivery;
3 projects in agribusiness: an agricultural farm for growing king prawns, agricultural houses for rehabilitation of veterans and civilians;
3 leisure projects: art therapy, a sports club, and a children’s space.

The competition committee has reviewed the participants’ project presentations and will soon determine the winners. Each project participant can receive up to UAH 300 thousand to develop their business. The total amount for the implementation of the submitted projects is over UAH 15 million.

“We are very pleased that this time so many veterans and their families have agreed to participate in the competition for voucher support from the city. We hope that with our help they will be able to achieve their goals and start their own business or develop a successful business.

We are grateful to our servicemen for their protection and are ready to support them and their families in their entrepreneurship today,” says Yulia Trokhymchuk, representative of the Economic Department of Lviv City Council.

Last year, the Lviv City Council held two competitions for voucher support for veterans. They were attended by 30 participants. Veterans and their families managed to implement 27 projects totaling UAH 7.4 million.

To recap, we told you about the businesses of veterans and their wives that the city supported: a beauty salon run by veteran Lyudmyla Bednarska, a rehabilitation room run by veteran Oleh Zaits, the Garden of Dreams run by veteran Andrii Drobit, a volunteer car service run by veteran Stanislav Lisovyi, an eco-farm run by veteran Roman Kachalaba, a creative workshop run by veteran Maryna Titarenko, and a photo studio run by veteran Roman Paramushchak.
