In Lviv, electric scooters are prohibited from traveling on roads for cars, as well as children from 7 to 14 years unaccompanied by adults

During May, nine calls were received in Lviv about traffic accidents involving electric scooters. As of now, there are about 15 of them.

This was reported in a comment to Tvoemisto.tv by the press service of the patrol police of Lviv region.

Last year, Lviv developed rules concerning users of electric scooters. According to the decision adopted by the deputies at the session of the LMD, they were allowed to move on sidewalks, footpaths, parks, squares and parking lots on electric scooters, but only at speeds up to 5 km / h.

The decree also refers to limiting the speed of electric scooters to 5 km / h on sidewalks where there are many pedestrians. That is, if the user of the electric scooter goes on the sidewalk where there are many people, it is necessary to limit movement for safety of all participants of movement. If the sidewalk is free, you can go faster.

Electric scooters should be used by people over 14 years of age. Children from 7 to 14 years old will be able to use this tool as well, but only accompanied by parents.

In addition, people who use the road network are prohibited from parking the scooter in the following places:

As reported in a comment to Tvoemisto.tv in the press service of the LMR, the approval of the rules is still valid. A detailed list of measures can be found in the decision.

Patrolmen, in turn, remind that while driving you should pay attention to road signs and traffic lights, wear a helmet and other protective elements, use reflective elements, choose the optimal speed, monitor the road surface, keep distance and interval and do not talk on the phone. Also, after using a rented electric scooter, it is advisable to park it in a safe place so that it does not interfere with other road users. If you are involved in an accident involving an electric scooter, follow the procedure, as in the case of an accident with other modes of transport. Stay put and call the patrol police and, if necessary, an ambulance. Next, the security guards will investigate.

It will be recalled that due to a significant increase in the number of people traveling in the city on electric scooters and the popularity of a new mode of transport in Lviv, it has increased conflicts on roads and sidewalks. It turned out that in the country, and in the city in particular, there were no clear rules governing this area.
