Lviv wants to change the principle of payment to carriers

If the resolution is adopted, Lviv will save UAH 6 million per month

The document stipulates that carriers will be compensated not for each preferential validation, as is the case now, but for a trip including free transfers. The relevant draft resolution will be considered tomorrow at the plenary session. The changes will not affect the passenger: it is a settlement between the city and the carriers, of which there are 8 in Lviv: seven that provide bus transportation and Lvivelectrotrans.

In other words, if a privileged passenger moves from one vehicle to another within 40 minutes, the city will reimburse the money not for two trips, but only for the first one. And the money will be paid to the carrier in whose transport the first transfer was registered.

In general, today the city pays carriers an average of UAH 60-65 million per month for privileged transportation. Since about 10% of privileged passengers make transfers, the city will save approximately UAH 6-6.5 million per month after the approval of this resolution.

At the same time, the Department of Urban Mobility and Street Infrastructure emphasises that the shortfall in these amounts will not be significantly noticeable for carriers. After all, following the introduction of the e-ticket, the profits of road hauliers in Lviv have at least doubled.
