Lake on Symonenko Street to be cleared of algae in Lviv

On 2 July, they will start cleaning the lake on Symonenko Street from reeds and algae. As explained by the Frankivsk district administration, only most of the lake will be cleaned.

The other, smaller part, will not be cleaned, as ducks live and breed there.

“We own a lake on Symonenko Street (near the polyclinic). The last time the lake was cleaned was last year, also in July. I would like to note that we carry out such cleaning every year, as there is no running water in the reservoir, and therefore it stagnates.

This year, we will clean only a large part of the lake and leave the smaller part as it is home to ducks. All work will be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources. That is, to preserve the reservoir and give the ducks that live there a place to stay.

We will be using special equipment, as we need to work in water. The works will last approximately one and a half to two weeks. The total cost is UAH 97.4 thousand,” explained the Frankivsk District Administration.
