2500 new street lamps will save Lviv UAH 9 million a year and reduce the load on the power grid
Lviv is implementing a pilot project to replace old street lamps with new and energy-efficient ones. Lvovsvitlo has already installed 1,000 new luminaires in the Sykhiv district of the city on major central streets and plans to purchase another 2,500 luminaires. They will be installed on neighbourhood streets and adjacent territories. Importantly, these 2,500 luminaires will save the city up to UAH 9 million worth of electricity per year.
The company explained that thanks to such measures, electricity consumption is reduced by 4-5 times, while street lighting becomes much better. It is also important that the overall load on the power grid will be reduced, which is extremely important in times of possible enemy attacks on power facilities.
“On 6 June, we announced a tender for the purchase of 2,500 30W lamps to meet the demand. Only one company, Poltava-Parity, took part in the tender. The offer was good and met all the requirements, so on 27 June we signed a contract with the winner.
According to the contract, payment for the goods is made only after receiving and checking the goods for compliance. After that, we pay only 30% of the cost of the luminaires, and the rest of the amount is paid over the next 23 months. This guarantees complete security: first the goods, then the money.
As of today, we have received the first 800 lamps. Having checked the goods, we see that the quality is appropriate. So we have already started installing them.
Importantly, these 2,500 lamps will save the city up to UAH 9 million worth of electricity per year. And this is based on the current tariff, which, according to experts, will only increase,” Lvivsvitlo said.
As a reminder, Lviv has developed a project to replace old street lamps in Sykhiv with economical LED lamps. If the Lvivsvitlo project is implemented, it will reduce electricity consumption by 4.5-5 times. And it will pay for itself within a few years. As a result, the electricity consumption of street lighting devices will become 5 times more economical, while the street will be twice as bright.
