In Lviv, with the participation of the Ambassador of the European Union, a capsule was laid for the construction of social housing for wounded Ukrainians

In Lviv, with grant funds from the European Union, 8 fully inclusive houses will be built in which people in need of rehabilitation will be able to live. Today, Katarina Maternova, the Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, and Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy laid the foundation stone for the capsule under construction. In the houses, one-, two- and three-room campuses are provided, so that people can live together with their families.

“Today, Ukraine is known all over the world. And it is important that this fame be converted into help for people who spend their lives and health defending the values of the European Union, the values of the democratic world.

Today, we solemnly laid the foundation stone for the construction of social housing for the wounded. It’s a big part of the UNBROKEN ecosystem of humanity. The symbolism is that yesterday was the European Commission’s decision to start negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the EU, and today we are already implementing a major European project.

Of course, there was a lot of preliminary work up to this point. We signed agreements with Ms. Maternova when she was still working in the directorate of the European Union. And now, as an ambassador, she can already observe how these documents will be implemented in the floors that will grow,” said Andriy Sadovy, mayor of Lviv.

The European Commission allocated EUR 19.5 million in grant funds for the construction of social housing.

“I congratulate you on the start of this incredible project of construction of 8 houses, which was started within the framework of the great UNBROKEN project. It is at such a local level that great things happen. And because of such a geographical location of Lviv and its spirit, your city has the opportunity to receive people who were forced to leave their homes because of the war. Many of these people will be able to recover their health at the UNBROKEN center, which I had the opportunity to visit this year.

My huge personal thanks to you, because it is not so often that an official has the opportunity to see with his own eyes what he has been working on,” emphasized Katarina Maternova, Ms. Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine

We will remind, social housing will be built on the street. Mykolaychuk. Eight houses for 700 people will be built here, in which people in need of rehabilitation will be able to live. They will live in the complex as long as necessary for rehabilitation. Within the project, one-, two- and three-room campuses are provided in the houses, so that people can live here with their families.

Having received all the permits for the start of construction, the city immediately began work. Thus, at the beginning of November of this year, the company Progressbud Construction Company LLC was chosen as the general contractor for the construction of social housing.

“The first house should be built by May next year. We are in constant communication with our European colleagues, in order to ensure that all norms and rules previously specified by our partners are observed.

We emphasize that these houses will be fully inclusive, so that people with limited mobility can live comfortably and undergo rehabilitation in the UNBROKEN center, which is located right next to the construction site,” said Yuriy Telipskyi, director of the Lviv Intercity Bureau of Technical Inventory.

According to him, the city is responsible for laying communications: Lvivteploenergo – for the heat line, and Lvivodokanal – for the water supply.
