In Lviv, Zamarstynivsky Park will be rehabilitated

The park is located near the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center. The city will provide infrastructure and comfortable conditions for the rehabilitation of military and civilians, including children who suffered from Russian aggression. At the first stage of renovation, only everything necessary for rehabilitation will be done.

As reported in the urban planning department of the Lviv City Council, inclusive walking paths will be installed first. Children’s and sports play elements, which are suitable for people with disabilities, should be installed along the central avenue. A total of 22 children’s play elements will be installed in the park: swings for children of different ages, balancers, sandboxes, lasagnas and even a wooden hut. Sports elements include table tennis and chess. There will also be wooden pavilions, benches and garbage cans, a drainage system and additional drainage trays will be installed.

It is worth noting that the park has a network of health trails – terenkurs, with a total length of 6.7 km. Terenkurs as a method of rehabilitation are widespread in Europe, but not enough in Ukraine. Most cities simply do not have them. Four routes of varying difficulty will be combined with a network of inclusive paths, which are provided for by the park’s major renovation project.

“First of all, the park will be equipped with inclusive walking paths, sports simulators and other infrastructure for rehabilitation. But such parts of the project as the promenade or the amphitheater are not a priority right now. Therefore, at this stage, they will not be installed. However, we must submit the entire project to the tender, although we will implement it in stages.

Taking into account the order of the mayor of Lviv to limit the financing of non-priority expenses from the budget in the conditions of martial law, we will first of all implement what concerns the rehabilitation of patients of the NEZLAMNI center and the First TMO of Lviv. We will install all other entertainment elements when it is appropriate,” explained Taras Kubai, director of the urban planning department of the Lviv City Council.

The total estimated cost of the entire project is UAH 25.8 million. The development budget for 2023 allocated UAH 9.3 million.

In addition, Zamarstyn Park is located close to the treatment buildings of the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center. Since the number of those in need of rehabilitation as a result of military operations is constantly increasing, the city decided to use the potential of the park for the rehabilitation of the wounded – to equip the necessary infrastructure for this.

We will remind you that defenders who are being treated at the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center recently joined the “Day of Health for Victory” campaign.
