Lviv has started large-scale work on replacing old lamp traffic lights with new energy-saving LED ones. About 60 new traffic lights have already been installed at 5 sites. In total, 288 old traffic lights will be replaced at 20 traffic light facilities. This was reported by Lvivavtodor.

“The main purpose of replacing the lamp traffic lights with LED ones is to save electricity consumption, improve the visibility of traffic signals at different times of the day, and increase safety for all road users,” Lvivavtodor said.

“For the duration of the work, we are forced to temporarily turn off a particular traffic light. We apologize for the inconvenience,” Lvavtodor added.

As a reminder, Lvavtodor operates 167 traffic light facilities, which is more than 2,100 traffic lights of various types. Approximately 600 of them are lamps.

By the way, Lviv will have more traffic lights that can be controlled online. Thus, this year, another 60 facilities are planned to be connected to the central traffic control system. This will make it possible to monitor traffic lights online, respond quickly to emergencies, reconfigure them remotely, and more.
