The Litmyr River flows through the central part of the city
In the city of Turka, Sambir region, works on clearing and shore fortification of the Litmyr river arm are being completed.
The project aims to protect against the harmful effects of the waters of this river (lateral erosion), to improve and support the favorable sanitary regime of the river within the boundaries of Serednya, Sichovy Striltsiv, Shevchenko streets.
The total estimated cost of construction works is UAH 1.9 million. The work was carried out with the funds of the regional environmental protection fund – 1.58 million hryvnias. and local budget funds – UAH 344,472,000.
Work continued in three areas. There, shoals were cleared in the kilometer-long riverbed, a right-bank retaining wall 2.23 meters high (Shevchenko St.) and 27 meters long was built.
They also built a left-bank retaining wall 2.73 meters high and 15 meters long from the shore abutment of the bridge crossing to the shore abutment of the pedestrian bridge across the Litmyr River up to 6.6 meters in the direction of the left bank, and a left-bank retaining wall 1.73 meters high and 27 meters long was built in at the place of a sharp bend in the river’s course.
“The Litmyr River flows almost through the central part of the city of Turka. Due to the narrowing of the riverbed, during heavy rains, floods often occur, the river overflows its banks and floods part of the city. Thanks to the complex of works on clearing and strengthening the banks, the erosion of the banks will stop, and 179 households will be protected from flooding. Strengthening the banks of the river will also make it impossible to pollute its waters, because Litmyr, which is a tributary of the Yablunivka River of the Strya basin,” said the acting director. Oksana Viytyk, Director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
