On Monday, January 29, the Drohobych community will meet and send off two of its sons who gave their lives for Ukraine: 24-year-old Yuriy Shpuk from Drohobych and 36-year-old Yaroslav Hubitsky from Stebnyk.
Yurii Shpuk was killed while performing combat missions to defend Ukraine on September 3, 2023, in the Pologivskyi district of Zaporizhzhia region.
For a long time, he was considered missing. Only now the death of the soldier has been officially confirmed and the body of the Hero will be able to find eternal rest.
Yaroslav Hubitsky, while performing combat missions to defend Ukraine, received numerous injuries that ended his life in a hospital in Dnipro.
The two fallen Heroes will be met on Monday, January 29, at 12:30 at the Heroes’ Crossing. From there, the mourning convoys will follow the following routes:
The convoy with the body of the deceased Yuriy Shpuk will be taken to Drohobych, where at 13:00 a citywide farewell will be held on Rynok Square.
Then, at 13:30, the funeral service will begin in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The deceased will be buried on the Walk of Fame.
The convoy with the body of Yaroslav Hubitsky will be taken from the Heroes’ crossroads to Stebnyk. At 13:00, a citywide farewell will be held on Shevchenko Square.
The funeral service will be held at 13:30 in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Hero will be buried in the cemetery on Mekelyta Street.
