In the shelter of the Children’s Service of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, the facade was insulated and the roof was repaired. This was done at the expense of the “Lions Club of the City of Lviv” charity fund.
Children aged 3 to 18 are accepted in the social protection institution, created for temporary stay. Thanks to benefactors, parapets were covered with caps here without dismantling the existing parapet coverings and chimneys were covered with preliminary dismantling of the existing parapet coverings. The total amount of repair works exceeded UAH 1 million.
Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv OVA, said that during the war, 50-60 children could stay in the shelter, despite the fact that the institution itself is designed for 25 children.
“I would like to thank the Lions Club of the City of Lviv for the complex of works they carried out. More than a million hryvnias were spent so that the pupils of the institution spent this winter in warmth and comfort. Of course, in the future there is a need to modernize the entire building. It is also important to carry out social adaptation of these children, because many of them are deprived of parental care and our task is to do everything possible so that they receive the love and support that their parents could not give them. I hope that we will be able to completely reconstruct this institution and create groups for social adaptation, psychological support and art therapy on its basis. Once again, I want to thank all those who join such projects and invest their own money in our future – children,” said the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.
The president of the Lviv City Lions Club, Roman Monastyrskyi, told how exactly the idea of renovating the shelter came about.
“The idea of renovating this shelter for children arose in cooperation with the Polish club “Poznań Rotunda”, namely with our Polish colleague Mariusz Scheib, who is the organizer of international multi-day marathons during which fundraising is held. This year’s race took place in Canada and the USA. Within it, funds were collected for Ukrainian children. I also participated in this race – from Chicago to Montreal. It turned out to be very successful, because we managed to collect enough funds, which we directed, in particular, to the restoration of this shelter. We decided to prioritize those works that must be completed before the onset of the cold season. Since there was not much time, we focused on insulating the house and repairing the roof,” said Roman Monastyrskyi.
He added that this is only the first phase of the restoration of the shelter, because fundraising continues, the Club plans to repair the shelter inside and take care of the improvement of the territory.
In total, from January 1 to December 20 this year, 253 children received social protection at the Children’s Shelter of the Children’s Service of the Lviv Regional State Administration, and the pupils can stay here for the time needed for their further placement.
