The Drohobych community continues to support the soldiers defending Ukraine from the enemy. Recently, the city purchased and handed over another important piece of equipment for one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s special forces units – a DJI Matrice 300 quadcopter, as well as ammunition for mobile fire teams.
The support received from the city for his unit was recently announced by Orest Karakevich, Secretary of the Drohobych City Council, who has been defending Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and is performing combat missions in one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s special forces.
In total, this year, the budget of the Drohobych community financed the purchase of various military equipment for the Ukrainian defence forces for a total of UAH 6 million 829 thousand. The purchased equipment includes several portable electronic warfare systems, anti-drone systems, repeaters, portable radio stations and a lot of tactical uniforms for military special forces, as well as support for local military units.
The programme to support the Ukrainian Defence Forces was approved by the Drohobych City Council and is funded from the local budget. It is implemented by the municipal enterprise Ekran-Service.
Despite the fact that the state has removed military personal income tax from local budgets and continues to make attempts to reduce financial revenues to community budgets, Drohobych is trying to find resources and meet military needs to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine defeat the enemy.
According to Oleksandr Tomashenko, director of Ekran-Service, the company plans to provide the military with machine gun turrets and a video surveillance system for weapons and ammunition storage facilities as part of the local programme to support the Ukrainian defence forces.
