Marian Panko from Stebnyk died in the war with the Russian occupier

Another sad news from the frontline – a resident of Stebnyk, Hero of Ukraine Marian Panko, died in the war.

Marian Panko was born on 12 October 1982 in Stebnyk and graduated from the local school No. 11. He then entered and received his law degree from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. After graduation, he practised law in Kyiv.

Marian was an active athlete – he went in for cycling and table tennis. He was also fond of photography.

In 2023, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the integrity and sovereignty of his native country.

The soldier was killed on the night of 4 May while performing a combat mission near the village of Marinka, Donetsk region.

The fallen hero is survived by his mother, wife and five-year-old son. The soldier will be buried in Kyiv on Thursday, 20 June. The funeral service will be held at St Michael’s Cathedral at 12:00.

The Drohobych City Council, its Executive Committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends and colleagues on the untimely death of our countryman and Hero, Marian Panko.
