A few months ago, due to technical problems, the issue of “Cards of Drogobych” – plastic bank cards introduced in Drohobych for the purpose of accounting and monetization of preferential transportation – was temporarily suspended.
The introduction of the “Drohobychanin Card” at one time became possible thanks to the established cooperation between the city council, Oschadbank, Symbol and Visa companies, as well as the plastic card manufacturing plant. Thanks to the implemented project, public transport in the city was equipped with validators for contactless payment of fares.
Cashless payment of the fare provided the bank card holder with a discount on the fare. And privileged categories of persons received twenty free rides in the city’s public transport every month.
Unfortunately, due to technical problems that occurred between the Symbol company and the manufacturing plant at the stage of exchanging information containing users’ personal data, the process of manufacturing new cards was temporarily suspended. Neither Drohobytsk City Council nor Oschadbank could influence this process.
As reported by the investment and economic development department, the city council has received a number of appeals from city residents whose “Drohobychan card” has expired and who wish to issue a new card.
“As soon as we received an official letter from the manufacturing plant, we stopped accepting applications from city residents. As soon as the technical problems related to data transmission are resolved, we are ready to resume issuing cards to Drohobychan residents,” Oschadbank emphasizes.
The Department of Information Technology and Analysis of the Digitalization, Information Policy and Communications Department reported that as of today, the problem has been partially resolved by reconfiguring payment terminals in transport, which extended the validity of the cards in terms of fare payment.
Meanwhile, all owners of “Drohobychanin cards” whose validity period has expired can continue to use the cards to pay for travel on city buses. The resumption of the issue of new plastic cards for residents of Drohobych will be additionally notified on the portal of the Drohobych City Council.
