Hazardous trees to be removed in the park of Uniatychi village, Drohobych Rayon

The current state of the hromada’s green spaces has many problems, the main one being the ageing of trees, which leads to the accumulation of dead wood, excessive thickening, and a decrease in their decorative and aesthetic value.

According to the Department of Safety and Control of the Department of Municipal Economy, the vast majority of squares, gardens and parks in the Drohobych community were planted in the 60s and 80s of the last century, and today many of these trees are 50 years old or more. At the same time, the critical age of trees in urban plantations is 60-70 years. Even now, dozens of hazardous trees and those that have reached the age limit need to be urgently removed in the community’s settlements and reconstructed in squares, gardens, and intra-quarter green areas. In recent years, there has also been a deterioration in the environmental conditions for plant growth due to more frequent and prolonged adverse weather conditions (drought, wind break).

In order to improve the park in the village of Uniatychi, prevent the fall of hazardous trees and, accordingly, prevent damage to the property of the community and the residents themselves, the greenery inspection commission inspected the trees in the park on 28 December 2023 to cut the crowns and remove hazardous trees.

According to the results of the commission’s work, in accordance with the Procedure for the Removal of Trees, Shrubs, Lawns and Flowerbeds in Settlements, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1045 of 1 August 2006, in agreement with the State Ecological Inspectorate in Lviv Oblast, it was established that thirteen dead and dangerous trees on the territory of the children’s entertainment park on Parkova Street in the village of Uniatychi had reached the age limit and posed a threat to human health and life, as evidenced by a relevant report.

Also, trees with dry-topped emergency crowns were found near the stage in the park, which need to be cut.

The Safety and Control Division of the Municipal Economy Department notes that the work on removing hazardous trees and trimming the crowns of green spaces will soon be carried out by the utilities of the Drohobych City Council.

“Together, we care about a safe environment for residents and guests of the community.
