An initiative group of teachers organized the educational project “Speak Ukrainian” for internally displaced people living in the modular town “Mariapolis” and for several weeks helped them adapt to their new place of residence, improving their spoken Ukrainian language. Several times a week, educators met with immigrants, talked, walked around the city and encouraged them to communicate in Ukrainian.<\/p>\n
“We don’t tell any rules, any syntax. We simply encourage people to try to use the Ukrainian language in communication. We do not insist, we do not pressure, we do not teach. We are trying to carry out such a quiet Ukrainization,” the teachers share.<\/p>\n
The topics of the “Conversations in Ukrainian” classes are quite broad:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 from the traditions of Ukrainian cuisine to embroidery styles in different regions of Ukraine;<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 from a Ukrainian folk song to a discussion of favorite books.<\/p>\n
