The performance will take place under the leadership of the chief conductor Teodor Kuhar. Dmytro Tkachenko will be the soloist of the evening.<\/p>\n
The inaugural concert of the Philharmonic and its orchestra, which was played on September 27, 1902 under the baton of chief conductor Ludwik Chelyanskyi, was the main event of that time in Lviv and gathered a large number of listeners in the hall of the former Skarbka Theater (now the National Drama Theater named after Maria Zankovetska).<\/p>\n
Exactly 120 years after that moment, the now world-renowned ensemble – Myroslav Skoryk Lviv National Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra invites all friends and fans to the Lyudkevich Concert Hall to celebrate this important date together.<\/p>\n
The evening’s program will include symphonic works by three composers.<\/p>\n
For the first time in many decades, an early orchestral composition by Stanislav Lyudkevich – “Ukrainian Capriccio”, which premiered in the first concert season of the Lviv Philharmonic on May 6, 1903, will be performed on the Philharmonic stage.<\/p>\n
The second work of the program will be Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 by Yevhen Stankovych.<\/p>\n
It is in September that the Maestro will celebrate his 80th birthday, so the performance will be symbolic and timed to the birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian composer. Solovyatme is the famous violinist Dmytro Tkachenko, for whom Stankovich wrote this piece.<\/p>\n
Antonin Dvo\u0159\u00e1k’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” will also be played at the opening of the season.<\/p>\n
The public will also be presented with an exhibition of historical, archival materials: photos, posters, feedback, and reviews for the entire period of formation of the Academic Symphony Orchestra and the Lviv National Philharmonic in general.<\/p>\n
