There, in the Mariupol Drama Theater, the girl and her mother hid from shelling until March 9. One day, my mother went to get the food that was being prepared in the theater and did not return – the blow fell exactly where the woman was.<\/p>\n
Volunteers evacuated Kateryna from Mariupol, because she had no one with her except her mother. The girl had health problems from birth – she could not see or speak.<\/p>\n
Katya was brought to Lviv – to the Child and Family Support Center “Relatives”. Here, the center’s team worked with the girl, the child adapted after the shock and stress experienced, psychologists worked with her. Also in Lviv, Kateryna was operated on both eyes free of charge at the Dmytro Goryachev Ophthalmological Center and she began to see.<\/p>\n
Later, she was transferred to a specialized institution for appropriate care. That child still needs long-term, expensive rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, our friends and partners from the NGO “Care in Action” responded. They were very moved by Kateryna’s story, so they told their friend Xander Debur from the Netherlands about Katya, and he helped,” said the “Relatives” Center.<\/p>\n
Xander is an employee of the city hall of the Dutch city of Eindhoven. Since the beginning of the war, he supported Ukrainians, received women with children in his house, helped as much as he could.
