Due to an accident, the man almost lost his leg: the limb had already lost sensitivity and started to turn blue. In order to avoid the spread of infection, doctors should have amputated her, but Lviv surgeons managed to restore blood flow through the vessels.<\/p>\n
Snow, blood, ambulance and hospital. 46-year-old Roman from Skole recalls the events of that evening reluctantly and asks not to reveal the circumstances under which he was injured. He only says: one moment – everything is fine. On the other hand, local emergency room doctors are trying to stop severe arterial bleeding on the leg.<\/p>\n
After the bleeding was stopped, Roman went home. However, later he noticed that the leg began to lose sensitivity and turn blue. The man immediately turned to the Hospital of Saint Panteleimon.<\/p>\n
After ultrasound diagnostics and computer tomography, it becomes clear: the man has almost no blood flow in his leg, because the popliteal vein and artery are damaged. In addition, a pathological connection was formed between them – a so-called fistula. Surgery is indispensable, otherwise – amputation.<\/p>\n
As a result of blood loss, the patient developed severe anemia. To perform the operation, doctors performed a massive blood transfusion. And during the intervention itself, surgeons removed a large intermuscular hematoma, cut out the affected areas of the artery and popliteal vein. After that, the blood flow was restored by applying vascular sutures.<\/p>\n
The operation lasted almost two hours. After the intervention, the doctors have no comments on the patient’s condition. Further, Roman will undergo a long rehabilitation to restore the flexion function of his leg.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
