Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the forester of one of the branches of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” was informed of the suspicion of extorting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, the official demanded and received more than UAH 60,000 from the citizen for the unimpeded release of wood and its removal from the forestry territory.<\/p>\n
In particular, the forester sold partially accounted wood without official payment to the enterprise’s bank account and the corresponding documentation.<\/p>\n
The law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine upon receipt of part of the funds in the amount of UAH 20,000.<\/p>\n
Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the detainee and removing him from his post is being resolved.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the territorial administration of the State Bureau of Investigation in Lviv, based on the materials of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.<\/p>\n
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.<\/p>\n
