Oleg Bereza, head of the Service for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure in the Lviv Region, notes:<\/p>\n
“The crossing was built in 1960, and in 1975 the structure was reconstructed. Since then, no capital repair or reconstruction work has been carried out. Due to the significant load on the bridge for 48 years, the beams collapsed and separated, the supports were deformed, and the railing and barrier fence were damaged. In addition, the bridge lacks proper waterproofing, without which the structure in a high humidity environment will quickly collapse. After carrying out an appropriate survey of the 30-meter structure by specialists, it was found that the bridge is of limited serviceability and is in the IV operational state.”<\/p>\n
As of today, we are carrying out work on one part of the building, namely, the bridge workers are arranging the overlay slab.<\/p>\n
Prior to that, the following works had already been carried out:
\n– strengthening of beams of the span structure and restoration of their protective layer;
\n– a cabinet (retaining) wall is installed;
\n– transitional slabs are arranged;
\n– a layer of covering of fittings and span structure is laid;
\n– work was carried out on the reinforcement of the overhead slab.<\/p>\n
In the future, we will carry out installation work:
\n– sidewalk;
\n– waterproofing;
\n– structural layers of asphalt concrete road surface;
\n– washing and barrier fencing.<\/p>\n
Reversing traffic has been organized at the repair site.<\/p>\n
Already in May, we plan to open the repaired part of the bridge to vehicular traffic and start repair work on the other part.<\/p>\n
We ask drivers to understand the temporary inconveniences and take into account the relevant information when planning the route.<\/p>\n
