The patient is 53-year-old Iryna from the city of Khotyn. The woman devoted her whole life to teaching and never complained about her health. But about four years ago, a neoplasm appeared on the woman’s ovary, which she did not know about – the tumor progressed without symptoms.<\/p>\n
The only thing that bothered the woman was that she was gradually gaining extra weight. But in March 2023, the tumor rapidly grew to gigantic proportions. Iryna could no longer dress herself, lie down or sit quietly. Pain exhausted the woman. But she endured and still did not go to the doctor. And the tumor continued to grow.<\/p>\n
In the end, the woman sought medical help. Local doctors were shocked by what they saw. They took Irina to the intensive care unit and began searching for a hospital and specialists who would agree to operate on a woman in such a critical condition. Lviv surgeons of the St. Panteleimon Hospital dared to take on this difficult case.<\/p>\n
“The woman came to us in a stable and serious condition with a deformed abdomen, loss of muscle mass, severe weakness and excess fluid in the pleural cavity. There was no time to delay. After the necessary additional examination, the doctors immediately set about removing the giant tumor,” says the First Medical Center of Lviv.<\/p>\n
Doctors removed a 13-kilogram tumor measuring 35 by 25 centimeters. The woman was actually very lucky, surgeons say. After all, the tumor did not spread to neighboring organs and structures. And that’s why doctors quickly and safely removed the neoplasm.<\/p>\n
The operation lasted two hours and was successful. Within a week, the results of histology arrived: the tumor was benign, and therefore the woman does not need additional therapy. The teacher has already been discharged and soon she plans to return to teaching – because she loves it more than anything else.<\/p>\n
