The Lviv Court of Appeal left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged due to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. By the decision of the latter, 24-year-old and 35-year-old residents of the Sambir region were found guilty of robbery, robbery, illegal possession of an important personal document and cruelty to animals (Part 4 of Article 187, Part 4 of Article 186, Part 3 of Article 357, Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
They were sentenced to 10 and 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property, respectively.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors proved in court that in July 2022, in one of the villages of the Sambir district, convicts drank alcoholic beverages. Being drunk, they met a fellow villager, with whom they provoked a conflict in the neighbor’s yard. Subsequently, the 24-year-old suspect attacked the victim and began punching and kicking his body. After the beating, the men openly stole his military ID and 100 hryvnias from his pocket.<\/p>\n
However, the criminal group did not stop there. And a few hours later, they broke into the house of the same victim. Having met three residents of the settlement, they began to hit them on the body with fists, legs and sticks. After that, the men broke down the door to the storeroom, where they took possession of the household items of their victims. In particular, a mobile phone, sugar, cereals and spices.<\/p>\n
Later, the 24-year-old assailant stayed in the house to “guard” the victims. And his accomplice went to the barn and stole 10 birds there, beheaded them and put them in a bag. On his way back, he entered the warehouse and stole garlic.<\/p>\n
The appellate court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor and left the verdict of the Sambir city-district court unchanged.<\/p>\n
