Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the acting head of one of the departments of the Lviv City Council and Lviv residents were notified of the suspicion. The official is charged with extorting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and his accomplices are charged with aiding and abetting the solicitation and receiving of unlawful benefit (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, the official and his accomplice received $1,500 in illegal benefits from a private entrepreneur. The latter was replanning the residence into a commercial space for opening a store. In this he was helped by the figure.<\/p>\n
The employee demanded a bribe for approval of the technical documentation for arranging a separate entrance to the apartment.<\/p>\n
The man took money through an intermediary. The woman knew for sure that she was participating in a criminal scheme to obtain an illegal benefit.<\/p>\n
Both defendants were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Investigations are ongoing. The issue of removing the official from his position and choosing preventive measures for the detainee is being resolved.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Department of the National Police of the region, based on the materials of the SBU Department in the Lviv region.<\/p>\n
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.<\/p>\n
