As part of the project “Mental Health for Ukraine MH4U” of the charity fund “Caritas of the Stryi Diocese”, which aims to help people with disabilities of the mental spectrum in arranging their own home, and with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, a supported residence house “DiM” was opened in Stryi “.<\/p>\n
Eight young people with disabilities will live here, and thanks to three assistants and two social workers, they will be able to start an independent life.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that social workers will be at the assisted living facility 24 hours a day. A psychologist is also assigned to the house.<\/p>\n
Volodymyr Shved, the deputy head of the Stryi RVA, the head of the Stryi Office of the Civil Population Support Coordination Center at the LOVA RVA, noted that the main stereotype that prevails in society about people with mental disabilities is that they will not be able to live independently and will need constant help. however, many stories prove that if parents support their children, love them and create the right conditions, it brings great results.<\/p>\n
Most Reverend Bishop Bohdan Manyshyn, assistant bishop of the Stryi Diocese and Fr. Volodymyr Mamchyn, director of the BF “Caritas of the Stryi Diocese of the UGCC” in the presence of invited priests, guests and residents of the building consecrated “DiM”.<\/p>\n
Step by step, Lviv Oblast attracts partners to support the elderly and people with disabilities. In addition, the strategy of the Coordination Center for the support of the civilian population at LOVA is to create centers of inpatient care, supported living for those who need social support.<\/p>\n
