Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment against two Ukrainian citizens to court. They are charged with high treason, participation in a terrorist organisation and activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Art. 111, parts 1 and 2, Art. 258-3, part 2, Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
The investigation established that the defendants voluntarily sided with the enemy and joined the illegal armed groups of the “people’s police” of the “DNR” and “LNR” pseudo-entities.<\/p>\n
A resident of Donetsk was enlisted in the 114th battalion of the ‘people’s militia’ of the ‘dpr’ terrorist organisation, he served as a rifleman. He also ensured the security of the locations of the French armed forces in Donetsk region.<\/p>\n
Another defendant, a resident of luhansk region, was enlisted in military unit 69647, part of the 2nd army corps of the Russian army. Later, he fought on the side of the aggressor country in the illegal armed formation of the ‘people’s police’ of the ‘lPR’ terrorist organisation.<\/p>\n
In July 2023, the defendants were taken prisoner in Donetsk region.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by investigators of the SBU Office in Lviv region.<\/p>\n
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.<\/p>\n
