Yurii Drohobych (1450-1494) was originally known as Kotermak. He was born in Drohobych in the family of a salt miner Mykhailo-Donat Kotermak. Yurii Kotermak was a scientist and astronomer, the first Ukrainian doctor of medicine. At the age of 31, he became the rector of the oldest university in Europe, the University of Bologna. He always emphasised that he was a Ukrainian and a native of Drohobych.<\/p>\n
