He was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors proved in court that the convict, while intoxicated, broke into the pensioner’s house and attacked her. After being punched in the head, the elderly woman fell to the floor and lost consciousness. After that, the man took her gold wedding ring and jewellery earrings. The victim was found unconscious by her relatives only the next day.<\/p>\n
The convict did not stop there, and the next day, using a local resident’s phone, he logged into online banking and transferred the victim’s money – about UAH 10,000 – to his bank account.<\/p>\n
The defendant’s lawyer filed an appeal, in which he denied committing the robbery and asked to reduce the term of imprisonment and release him from serving his sentence with probation.<\/p>\n
However, the court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutors and dismissed the defence’s appeal.<\/p>\n
