In the Lviv region, 17,699 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were registered in week 6 of 2024. The intensive incidence of ARVI, including COVID-19, is 65.8% higher than the epidemic threshold of 434.07.<\/p>\n
“The coronavirus is constantly evolving into forms that are more adept at infecting vaccinated and previously infected people. The types of symptoms and their severity usually depend more on a person’s immunity and overall health than on which variant causes the infection. In the past, new variants often increased the number of cases and hospitalisations, but now there is much higher collective immunity due to previous infections and vaccinations,” said Natalia Litvinska, acting director of the health department of Lviv Regional State Administration.<\/p>\n
According to Nataliia Litvinska, vaccination against covid and influenza is only the first line of defence, and then the immune system has to fight viruses and reduce the burden on the body. You need to update your defences to strengthen your immune system and better respond to circulating viruses. She urges everyone to get their dose of the vaccine and take care of protecting their family and friends.<\/p>\n
The proportion of children under 17 years of age accounted for 48.4% of the total number of cases – 8,571 people. Epidemic thresholds were exceeded in Lviv, Chervonohrad and Yavoriv districts. The highest proportion of cases was recorded among the 5-14 year olds (28%) and 30-64 year olds (30%). The circulation of influenza A, B and coronaviruses has been detected in the region.<\/p>\n
“Doctors registered 1 fatal case caused by influenza A virus in a man over 65 years old. In the Lviv region, 16,087 people have been vaccinated against influenza. Also, 150 people fell ill with acute respiratory disease COVID-19. Experts registered 2 fatalities among people aged 56 and 60 among the unvaccinated. There were 31 patients in hospital for COVID-19, and 292 patients for influenza and ARVI. A total of 1,102,787 people were vaccinated against the coronavirus with one dose, 1,039,638 people received the second dose, 212,030 people received the first booster dose, and 25,824 residents of Lviv Oblast received the second booster dose,” said Natalia Ivanchenko, Director General of the Lviv Oblast Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
