The exhibition of works by Petro Sypniak “Holy Land” is presented in several series of works. As noted by the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv, the exhibition invites to rethink the concept of land as a holy gift of heaven to every nation and every person. In particular, the right to be born on this land, to manage its resources, to preserve and inherit it for future generations.<\/p>\n
The Earth appears in the artist’s new works as a sacred object of cult admiration and worship of a farmer, a cattleman, a craftsman in the broad sense of a rational person who was born to nurture God’s garden, which is our Earth, and not to destroy it. The author urges us to be quiet and immerse ourselves in observing the seasonal agricultural cycles of a relatively small piece of Galician land.<\/p>\n
With some of his works, the author gently pushes viewers to realize the presence of “Prophets in their homeland” among us throughout its history and right now.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is open to the public until April 14 at 20 Svobody Avenue.<\/p>\n
For reference: Petro Sypniak is a People’s Artist of Ukraine, a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine and the Club of Ukrainian Artists. He has organized and participated in many charity auctions and projects to restore cultural monuments in Lviv and other cities.
