This year, potholes as large as two football fields at the Lviv Arena have been repaired on the city’s roads<\/p>\n
Under favourable weather conditions, at least 3 brigades are working in each district of the city to repair potholes on the roads. According to the Department of Housing and Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council, over two months of this year, potholes have been repaired on the street and road network with a total area of 15,549 square metres. This is more than two football fields of the Arena Lviv stadium (the area of one field is 7140 square metres).<\/p>\n
In total, 18 pothole repair teams work in the city every day – 3 teams in each district. Depending on the outside temperature, the work is carried out with cold asphalt concrete, using Silkotblue machines, hot asphalt concrete and paved with tiles and paving stones, having previously eliminated subsidence.<\/p>\n
“Today, one of the priority tasks is to eliminate potholes on main roads, public transport routes and eliminate acute potholes.<\/p>\n
What causes potholes? Due to changes in temperature conditions: snow melts and gets into the cracks in the asphalt, and when there is a frost, the ice “bursts” the asphalt, causing cracks and pits.<\/p>\n
Due to martial law, we have not carried out major road repairs for two years. This does not help improve the condition of the road surface, but rather the opposite. We have to understand that if we limit funding for major road repairs, the quality of the pavement will deteriorate every year,” explains Orest Tymchyshyn, Director of the Department of Housing and Infrastructure at Lviv City Council.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
