It was established that a neurologist and the head of the admission and diagnostic department of one of the medical institutions of Lviv demanded an illegal benefit in the amount of USD 1,000 from a patient, a citizen of Ukraine liable for military service, for his inpatient treatment and for issuing medical documents with false information, which the man could later use to obtain a disability group, evade mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and leave the country.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement officers detained one of the offenders in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in her office while receiving part of the illegal benefit.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official) has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.<\/p>\n
The article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n
