It has been established that an elderly woman injured in a road accident died as a result of improper performance of her duties by a general practitioner and a surgeon.<\/p>\n
According to investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, on December 14, 2022, at 18.10, an 80-year-old woman was admitted to a medical facility with injuries sustained in a road accident (hit by a car).<\/p>\n
It was also found that the patient was not fully examined by the general practitioner of the emergency department and the surgeon, and the severity of her condition and diagnosis were incorrect. Two and a half hours after the examination, the woman died.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement officers served the doctors with a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 140 (Improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The sanction of the article provides for deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to five years, or correctional labor for up to two years, or restriction of liberty for up to two years, or imprisonment for the same term.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
