Police in Lviv region are looking for a driver who fatally hit a pedestrian and fled the scene<\/p>\n
Anyone who has any information that can help establish the circumstances of the accident should call 102 or the nearest police station.<\/p>\n
The accident occurred on March 20 at night in the village of Vovchatychi, Stryi district. As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, an unknown driver of an unidentified car hit a 68-year-old local resident and fled the scene.<\/p>\n
As a result of the accident, the elderly man died at the scene from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.<\/p>\n
A range of operational and investigative measures are being taken to identify the driver who committed the accident and the location of the car.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
