The prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the court against the state inspector of one of the customs posts of the Lviv Customs. He was charged with abuse of official position, which caused serious consequences and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
The investigation established that the accused allowed loaded trucks into the customs territory of Ukraine, registering them as empty.<\/p>\n
The inspector entered inaccurate information about the absence of cargo into the automated customs clearance system “Inspector” and attached a photo of an empty vehicle.<\/p>\n
This made it possible to import almost UAH 3 million worth of goods without paying customs duties.<\/p>\n
As a result, mandatory customs payments for the total amount of about 1.3 million hryvnias were not paid to the state.<\/p>\n
In order to compensate the damage caused to the state, at the prosecutor’s request, the court seized the truck and trailer.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the territorial department of the SBI in the city of Lviv. The investigation was carried out with the assistance of employees of the Department of Departmental Security and Control of the State Customs Service.<\/p>\n
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.<\/p>\n
