Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was sent to court against a 27-year-old resident of the region, who is charged with illegal manufacture, storage, transportation with intent to sell excisable goods (alcoholic beverages) (Part 1, 2 Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
The investigation established that in the territory of Lviv region, the accused organised an illegal business for the production and sale of counterfeit alcohol.<\/p>\n
He set up an underground workshop in a rented warehouse. There, the man diluted alcohol with water and poured it into specially purchased containers and packaging.<\/p>\n
Having received an order for counterfeit goods via the Internet, he was to send the illegally produced alcoholic beverages to potential customers by post. To conceal his illegal activity, the offender registered the parcels under fictitious data.<\/p>\n
However, the water-alcohol mixture, which was ready for transportation, as well as the one in the clandestine workshop, were timely detected and seized by law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n
The total volume of the seized counterfeit is more than 6,500 litres, its estimated value is about UAH 1 million.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department of the BES in Lviv region.<\/p>\n
