When the war in Donbas broke out, Yurii, after a long military break, once again stood up to defend the state. He was the commander of a tank platoon of the Rubizh Rapid Response Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. Subsequently, he performed combat missions in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 81st separate airmobile brigade. For personal courage, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Cross of Military Honour, an honorary badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A soldier, machine gunner of the rifle division of the military unit A0536.
