On Wednesday, 10 July, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Vasyl Palamarchuk and Maksym Kupetsky, who were killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.<\/h2>\n
Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.<\/p>\n
In the morning, at 09:30, a prayer and farewell service will be held at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sykhiv (St John Paul II Square).<\/p>\n
The funeral service for the defenders Maksym Kupetsky and Vasyl Palamarchuk will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.<\/p>\n
The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.<\/p>\n
Biographical information about the defenders<\/h3>\nVasyl Palamarchuk (22.01.1981-03.07.2024) Born in Myrhorod, Poltava region.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Vasyl Palamarchuk (22.01.1981-03.07.2024) was born in Myrhorod, Poltava region.<\/p>\n
He studied at Oleshky Secondary School No. 1 (today – Oleshky Academic Lyceum “Erudite”). Later he entered the Kherson Law Institute of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. Throughout his life, he received several higher education degrees.<\/p>\n
He lived in the town of Oleshky and practised law. He was a writer, the author of the book Military Trash about the realities of military service. According to his family, Vasyl Palamarchuk was a “wonderful husband and father”.<\/p>\n
During 2014-2015, he performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone as part of the 28th separate mechanised brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign of the operational command “South” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend the state from the Russian occupiers. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in the ranks of the 206th separate territorial defence battalion of the 241st separate territorial defence brigade of the Regional Directorate “North” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended Kyiv region from the Russian invaders, liberated Kherson region, fought against the invaders in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.<\/p>\n
For his personal courage, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Golden Cross, the Honourable Badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Defender of Ukraine and Wounded awards of the Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n
Vasyl Palamarchuk is survived by his wife and three children.<\/p>\nMaksym Kupetskyi (29.05.1980-04.07.2024) A native of the village of Nova Skvariava, Lviv region.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Maksym Kupetskyi (29.05.1980-04.07.2024) was born in the village of Nova Skvariava, Lviv region.<\/p>\n
He studied at the Novoskvaryava secondary school. Subsequently, he completed his education at the Rava-Rus Professional Lyceum. After graduation, he served in the air defence forces in Cherkasy.<\/p>\n
Since 2000, he lived in Lviv, where he worked in the trade sector. According to his family, he was an exceptionally “kind, sincere and pleasant person, ready to give his neighbour his “last shirt”.<\/p>\n
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend the state from the occupier. He defended his homeland in Donetsk region in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During his service, he was promoted to the rank of junior sergeant.<\/p>\n
