The Verkhovna Rada renamed 327 Russified settlements<\/h2>\n

According to MP Roman Lozynsky<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span>, Novomoskovsk, Pervomaisky, Krasnohrad, Druzhba on the border with Russia and all other names imposed on us by Moscow over the centuries will finally go to the dustbin of history. Towns and villages will return to their historical names, or will receive new ones proposed by local councils.<\/p>\n

A total of 281 MPs voted for the compromise resolution #12043. The resolution comes into force on the day following its publication.<\/p>\n

This is a truly historic decision! This is what should have been done 33 years ago. We have paid a terrible price to finally mature as a state to make this decision, the deputy emphasised.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, let’s remember the new names of our Ukrainian cities:<\/p>\n

❌ Novomoskovsk (Dnipro region) \u2b95 Samar;
\n❌ Pershotravensk (Dnipro region) \u2b95 Shakhtarske;
\n❌ Pervomaisk (Luhansk region) \u2b95 Sokologirsk; ❌ Molodogvardiysk (Luhansk region) \u2b95 Atamanivka.<\/p>\n

\n❌ Pervomaiskyi (Kharkiv region) \u2b95 Zlatopil;
\n❌ Vatutine (Cherkasy region) \u2b95 Bahacheve.<\/p>\n

At the same time, this is the first, but not the last, package of renames to implement the law on decolonisation. There are about 200 settlements to be renamed in line with the standards of the state language.<\/p>\n

In December 2023, the UINP reported that the Verkhovna Rada would rename Chervonohrad<\/a> due to the connection of the city’s name with the implementation of Russian imperial policy.<\/p>\n
