Works by famous artists and sculptors from different regions of Ukraine, as well as posters by students of the Institute of Printing and Media Technologies of Lviv Polytechnic and Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, tell the story of the tragic pages of the history of Ukrainian kobzars, including the persecution and destruction of kobzars by the Soviet authorities in the 1930s.<\/p>\n
Curators of the exhibition: Orest Skop, chief artist of the Lviv Palace of Arts, Honoured Artist of Ukraine; Natalia Bulanova, director of the Kamianske History Museum, PhD in History; Olha Lukovska, deputy director of the Lviv Palace of Arts, Doctor of Art History. The historical background on the kobza movement was prepared by Tetiana Shalenko, the long-time leader of the boys’ bandura band “Gamaliya”.<\/p>\n
This exhibition not only brings us back to the tragic pages of history, but also emphasises the power of the Ukrainian spirit, which has been conveying its truth through song, music and art for centuries. The Kobzar tradition lives on today, inspiring new generations of artists and performers.<\/p>\n
The exhibition will run until 13 October. Merchandise (t-shirts, shoppers, stickers and posters) is available for purchase throughout the exhibition.<\/p>\n
