The first batch of Swiss trams – two low-floor vehicles – arrived in Lviv from Bern<\/h2>\n

There is no need to retrofit the cars, as the tram infrastructure in Lviv and Bern is compatible, meaning that the track gauge in both cities is the same.<\/p>\n

Holos Sokalshchyny reported that Lviv would receive 11 trams from Switzerland in the second half of<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

The city also expects 4 more by the end of this year. The remaining 5 cars will be delivered in March 2025.<\/p>\n

Before entering service in Lviv, the electric vehicles must be tested and receive Ukrainian certification.<\/p>\n

In addition, the cars will be equipped with automated fare collection devices.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the project involves not only the transfer of vehicles, but also the training of technical staff, as well as improving the infrastructure and material and technical base of tram workshops.<\/p>\n

Preliminarily, it is planned to launch trams on routes No. 1 and No. 7 to reduce the intervals and ensure the availability of electric transport.<\/p>\n

The city team, together with Lvivelectrotrans, has been working on this since 2022. And this is a great achievement, because during the war, Lviv managed to renew its public transport rolling stock without attracting budget funds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
