As established by criminal police operatives together with investigators from Police Department No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department, the incident occurred on 20 October at around 20.30 in a cafe in the village of Verkhnye Syniovydne. A conflict arose between two visitors, a 28-year-old local resident and a 42-year-old Lviv resident, during which the older man severely beat the younger man with his hands and feet, causing him serious bodily harm.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the victim with an open head injury, a fracture of the skull, lower jaw and nasal bones.<\/p>\n
Investigators of the territorial police unit served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.<\/p>\n
