Five of them were taken to hospitals in moderate condition, the city&#8217;s Department of Emergency Situations, Civil Protection and Terrorist Defence reported.<\/h2>\n<p>The incident occurred in an apartment on Lesi Ukrainky Street, where three women aged 40, 38 and 32, as well as three children &#8211; an 8-year-old boy and two 9-year-olds, a boy and a girl &#8211; were poisoned by carbon monoxide. The gas supply to the apartment was promptly cut off by the emergency service of Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine LLC.<\/p>\n<p>In order to avoid such dangerous situations, it is important to ensure a constant flow of fresh air into the room with heating devices &#8211; through windows, doors and clean ventilation ducts, which must have sufficient draft to remove exhaust gases.<\/p>\n<p>If you have flue-vented appliances (gas boilers or columns), the chimney must also be clean, and electric fans are prohibited in such rooms. Failure to comply with these rules can lead to the accumulation of carbon monoxide.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>REMEMBER. Gas is explosive, and violation of the rules of its use can have tragic consequences &#8211; explosions, fires or poisoning. In the event of any gas emergency (fire, explosion, poisoning), you should immediately contact the emergency services: ambulance &#8211; 103, fire department &#8211; 101, gas company &#8211; 104, police &#8211; 102.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 27 October, six people suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning in Lviv.
