Tomorrow, on 2 December, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Volodymyr Honchar and Petro Kobzar, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers.<\/h2>\n
The mayor’s office calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.<\/p>\n
The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.<\/p>\n
The two fallen defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.<\/p>\n
Biographical information on the defenders<\/h3>\nVolodymyr Honchar (“Travis”) (29.07.1998-24.11.2024) Lviv resident.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Volodymyr Honchar (Travis) (29.07.1998-24.11.2024) was a resident of Lviv.<\/p>\n
He studied at the Lviv Academic Gymnasium at Lviv Polytechnic National University. He received his higher education at the Faculty of Economics of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. He did his military service in the transport troops in Chervonohrad.<\/p>\n
After returning, he learnt jewellery making.<\/p>\n
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he volunteered to join the ranks of the Defenders of the State.<\/p>\n
After undergoing training abroad, he defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of his homeland as part of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the end of 2023, he joined the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.<\/p>\n
Volodymyr Honchar is survived by his parents and close relatives.<\/p>\nPetro Kobzar (09.09.1988-19.11.2024) A native of Hnizdychiv, Lviv region.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Petro Kobzar (09.09.1988-19.11.2024) was born in the village of Hnizdychiv, Lviv region.<\/h3>\n
He studied at the Rudianske Secondary School of Hnizdychiv Village Council, Lviv Region. He completed his vocational education in Stryi.<\/p>\n
He worked as a warehouse manager at Weller Limited Liability Company. According to his family, he was an exceptionally bright, kind, sympathetic and fair person who always tried to help everyone.<\/p>\n
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the 30th separate mechanised brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn of the Ostroh Operational Command “North” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. He performed combat missions in the Kharkiv sector, was wounded twice, but returned to the front.<\/p>\n
