A joint influx of efforts from international donors, local entrepreneurs, and the community of Lviv is allowing the restoration of everything that has been destroyed as a result of aggression. As noted by the Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, during a meeting with the public, Lviv demonstrates a capacity for recovery and rebuilding. Specifically, since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, over 300 objects in the community have been damaged, but the initiatives and confidence of Lviv residents allow for the gradual restoration of the destroyed.<\/p>\n
According to the mayor, an important moment was the attack on Striyska Street in 2023, where nearly all of the destroyed buildings have been restored, and residents are making interior renovations. This example shows that even the loss of 10 individuals and more than 4 buildings can be a sorrow, but not the end.<\/p>\n
Recently, Lviv children returned to study at Lyceum No. 5, whose restoration was supported by Freiburg. The initiative ‘Take a House Under Care’ involved 30 companies that invested over 60 million UAH in restoration. Additionally, the beginning of 2024 brought the destruction of the Roman Shukhevych Museum, the restoration of which has already begun with the support of an architectural competition and the public organization ‘New Museum’.<\/p>\n
Lviv aims to keep its citizens with access to essential needs; a significant percentage of traffic lights, shelters, and medical institutions have alternative power supply to protect the city in times of uncertainty.<\/p>\n
