The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 45-year-old resident of Stryishchyna with extortion (part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the investigation, the man threatened a resident of Stryi, demanding payment of a non-existent debt of 200,000 UAH, threatening physical harm in case of refusal.<\/p>\n
To execute the criminal plan, he went to the woman’s residence and sternly insisted on the immediate transfer of funds. To intimidate her, he struck her in the face and body. The woman transferred the money in two installments, and during the receipt of the last payment, law enforcement detained him.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor filed a motion to keep the suspect in custody without bail. During criminal proceedings, several searches were conducted, uncovering narcotics, weapons, and other evidence of criminal activity. The investigation is ongoing to identify all involved parties.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Lviv Region with the support of the SBU and the National Police of Ukraine’s Department of Internal Security.<\/p>\n
