In one of the villages in the Sheptytsky District, he shot a wife and her husband with a hunting rifle, seized a wallet with money, and fled the scene in their vehicle. The maximum penalty the accused faces is life imprisonment.<\/p>\n
The murders were committed on the evening of October 3. Initially, the perpetrator shot the 48-year-old wife of the farm owner who was in the house, then waited until her 51-year-old husband returned home and shot him in the yard of the household.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, the killer seized the victim’s wallet containing cash in various currencies amounting to about 30,000 hryvnias and fled the scene in a SsangYong car belonging to the murdered man.<\/p>\n
All services and units of the Sheptytsky District Police Department and the police of Lviv region were involved in solving the crime and capturing the fugitive, conducting a special police operation.<\/p>\n
Through conducted measures, law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the offender, a 36-year-old resident of the district, and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. By court decision, he is in custody.<\/p>\n
It was also established that the murder weapon, a hunting rifle, was stolen by the detainee a few days earlier from another resident of the village.<\/p>\n
Pre-trial investigations in criminal proceedings opened under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, Part 4 of Article 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, points 1, 6 of Part 2 of Article 115 (Intentional Murder of Two Persons, Committed for Lucrative Motives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and Part 2 of Article 289 (Illegal Seizure of a Vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, are completed. Indictments have been sent to the court for consideration.<\/p>\n
