Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two men have been notified of suspicion. They are accused of organizing and facilitating illegal transport of a person across the state border of Ukraine (part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, in February of this year, two residents of the Zakarpattia region organized a scheme for the illegal border crossing for military conscripts. The ‘client’ was previously informed of the plan’s details. Specifically, on the appointed day, the man was taken to the Zakarpattia region, where he would be further transported by cargo truck across the state border of Ukraine into Romania. For successful transportation, the suspects instructed the conscript on where and how to hide until the vehicle driver passed customs control.<\/p>\n
They valued their services at 11,000 US dollars. After customs clearance by the driver, the ‘client’ hid in a semi-trailer among metal structures, where he was discovered by employees of the State Border Guard Service.<\/p>\n
The suspects were detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the decision is being made regarding the selection of preventive measures in the form of detention with the right to bail. Investigative actions are ongoing, and all involved parties are being identified.<\/p>\n
Pre-trial investigation is conducted by investigators of the investigative department of the Main Department of National Police in the Lviv region, with the operational support of the migration police unit of the Main Department of National Police in the Lviv region and the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until proven guilty in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.<\/p>\n
