<\/p>\n
Under the public accusation of prosecutors from the Lviv Regional and Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, a former director of one of the municipal enterprises of the Lviv City Council was found guilty of embezzlement of property through abuse of office (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
The cumulative punishment imposed is imprisonment for 8 years and 6 months with confiscation of all assets. Additionally, he is deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational and administrative functions for a period of 3 years.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors proved in court that based on the tender results, the enterprise headed by the accused entered into a contract for work on the object \\”Reconstruction of the solid waste landfill of Lviv city in the village of Velyki Hrybovychi\\”.<\/p>\n
Under its terms, the company was obligated to carry out necessary work at Hrybovychi landfill by the end of 2018 to prevent emergencies and eliminate the consequences of the accident.<\/p>\n
The accused, who at that time was the director of the utility company, using his office, unjustifiably transferred funds to the contractor for allegedly completed work. There were no acceptance certificates of the completed work, nor was there verification of the actual volume of work completed by the contractor.<\/p>\n
As a result of these actions, the budget suffered losses of almost 750 thousand UAH.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that the accused was previously sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of assets for accepting a proposal, promise, or receiving improper benefits by an official (part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n
It was proven in court that the man set up a scheme from a company that supplied slaked lime for work at the Hrybovychi landfill.<\/p>\n
Pre-trial investigation \u2013 Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Lviv region.<\/p>\n
The court verdict comes into force after the expiration of the appeal period.<\/p>\n
